The Suicide Squad: Post-Credit Scenes Breakdown

Nowadays it is common knowledge that it is important to stay all the way until the credits have rolled during a comic book movie, as more often than not there are either a mid-credits or post-credit scene (or both) usually setting up or giving a hint as to what’s to come next in that cinematic universe.

This is no different in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad which luckily for us fans, includes both of those to set up something extremely exciting, so let’s dive straight into it.

Mid-Credit Scene

We pick up on the beach of Corto Maltese where the movie’s first act began and with much death and destruction left behind from the beach battle, the camera cuts to a drowned Weasel. Thought to be the first character to die in the movie, us as the audience get a pleasant surprise as Weasel awoke and coughed up the water showing that he is indeed alive. He then lets off a weirdly hilarious squeal whilst running into the Corto Maltese Jungle and disappears.

Where did he go? Well presumably Amanda Waller may still be able to track him as he still has a bomb implanted in his head, but we think it’s safe to say that he will be appearing again at some point in the DCEU, whether it’s a small cameo or not. At this moment in time, the logical answer as to when we will see him again would be the upcoming HBO Max series ‘Peacemaker’ set in the DCEU. Director of The Suicide Squad, James Gunn is also heavily involved with the series, writing all eight episodes of the first season, acting as showrunner and directing many of the episodes too. We predict that Weasel may have a small role but will indeed appear. Something to support this theory is the fact that the actor who does the motion capture for the character is Sean Gunn (James Gunn’s brother) who pretty much features in all of his brother’s projects.

If we do end up seeing Weasel in Peacemaker then things could get very interesting!

Post-Credit Scene

This one certainly surprised many of the audience! In the post-credit scene we see Peacemaker recovering in hospital after being shot through the neck by Bloodsport. It turns out he had survived and was pulled from the rubble of Jotunheim. Hardcore DC fans will have known before The Suicide Squad even premiered that Peacemaker was going to get his own solo series on HBO Max but it was unknown as to when this would take place.

But the post-credit scene seemingly confirms it will be taking place after the events of The Suicide Squad, as we see two characters who are also returning for the Peacemaker series, Emilia Harcourt (played by Jennifer Holland) and John Economos (played by Steve Agee) sent to the hospital where Peacemaker is being treated, as Harcourt is asked what they need him for she replies "just to save the f—ing world".

This uncovers that Amanda Waller may not be done with Peacemaker just yet as she may need him for another assignment whilst simultaneously punishing Harcout and Economos to watch over Peacemaker after they betrayed her orders during The Suicide Squad.

We have no doubt that after his performance in The Suicide Squad, John Cena's Peacemaker show will be fantastic however what the Peacemaker show is exactly about is still reasonably unknown. One thing we do know is that it will explore more of Peacemaker’s backstory with his father whilst also starring fellow obscure DC characters Vigilante and Judomaster. We can't wait to see what more amazing content James Gunn has in store for Peacemaker.

Peacemaker starts streaming on HBO Max on January 14, 2022 and you can check out the teaser trailer for the series right here - Peacemaker | Official Teaser | HBO Max - Trailer
