NEW Batman Mini-Series from Tom King Announced by DC
Some breaking news from DC Comics today was exclusively revealed by CBR as they announced that DC had provided them with both a peak at their newest solicitation information and a first look at their brand-new mini-series Batman: Killing Time.
Written by Tom King with art by David Marquez and Alejandro Sanchez, the solicitation info reveals that Batman: Killing Time will be a 6 issue mini-series that will pit Batman against Catwoman, Riddler and the Penguin after they pull of a huge robbery.
Those familiar with Tom King’s previous work on Batman will be used to the coupling up of Batman and Catwoman as it featured heavily during his Batman comic run following DC’s Rebirth era back in 2016, and he developed their relationship to the point that they even got engaged. Batman engaged? Well, they didn’t actually follow through on the engagement as Catwoman believed it would hinder his ability to protect Gotham City. But where did King’s Batman and Catwoman storyline end up?
After his run on Batman came to an early end, King teamed up with artists Clay Mann and Liam Sharp and started work on the 12 issue mini-series Batman/Catwoman that would wrap up his thoughts on the Batman and Catwoman relationship which is due to end around April 2022. So, it seems as though his new Batman project will be just beginning as his Batman/Catwoman story comes to an end but it is highly unlikely that these two titles will be connected.
Due to the description of the solicitation for Batman: Killing Time, it appears as though this story takes place in the early years of Batman’s career. How do we know this? Well, Catwoman is most often known for fighting alongside Batman as opposed to opposite him, especially in modern Batman tales. And prior to her more anti-hero ways she did more often than not fight against Batman and the information regarding the new mini-series points us towards the early years of Batman because she will not only be taking on the Dark Knight but teaming up with some of his most dangerous villain as well.
