Spider-Man: No Way Home Post-Credit Scene EXPLAINED

The biggest film of the year is finally out! Spider-Man: No Way Home united a fandom together and delivered THE perfect Spider-Man movie. With intense action, a gripping story alongside an emotional rollercoaster, Spider-Man: No Way Home has it all. Everyone’s expectations seemed to be met, with all the cast bringing their A-game to the movie and although the movie was literally full of surprises, we still had more after the credit’s rolled.

*WARNING... MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD*

Although the highly anticipated return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire was possibly the best MCU reveal yet, we also had many more surprises like the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil and the revelation by Doctor Strange that Wong is the new Sorcerer Supreme heading into Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. But the first post-credit scene was another pleasant surprise that included Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom. Now, if you had watched Venom: Let There Be Carnage, you will be familiar with what was going on but if not, let’s quickly recap.

After Venom had defeated Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady/Carnage at the end of the movie, Venom was on the run from the authorities which saw him travel far away to a beach resort. Some humorous conversation occurred between Venom and Eddie Brock and then suddenly the whole environment begins to change, and Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom are now transported into the MCU at the time of Spider-Man’s identity being revealed back in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Post-Credit Scene

The scene that takes place after the credits have rolled in Spider-Man: No Way Home features Eddie Brock at that same resort we saw him last time, chatting to a bartender who is explaining to Eddie that there are tons of super-people within this universe as he references Iron Man, Hulk and even Thanos. Having accepted what the bartender was telling him, Eddie then explains that he needs to go to New York and “speak to this Spider-Man”.

Before he can even leave the bar, Eddie starts to disappear, just like all the other multiversal characters from Spider-Man: No Way Home did after Doctor Strange cast the identity-forgetting spell for Spider-Man at the end of the movie, meaning he is most likely being transported back to his universe however, a small part of the Venom symbiote is left behind at the bar.

Now, it wasn’t actually explained why Eddie Brock was transported to the MCU because as Spider-Man: No Way Home revealed, the reason that the multiversal characters appeared in the movie was due to the fact that the failed spell by Doctor Strange at the start of the movie caused everyone who knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man throughout the multiverse, to be transported to the MCU.

So why was Eddie there too? It isn’t actually clear, but it could have something to do with Venom’s “80 billion light-years of hive knowledge across universes” that may indicate he has some knowledge of Spider-Man in a different universe so it may have been Venom that was supposed to be transported to the MCU but because he was bonded with Eddie Brock, he had to come along for the ride too.

What Could This Mean for the Future?

Well, a part of Venom is now in the MCU and we have no doubt it will be travelling to New York to find Spider-Man as he seemed so fond of him after seeing him appear on TV in the Venom: Let There be Carnage post-credit scene. This means that we will be seeing the symbiote bond to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man at some point in the future implying he will indeed get his popular black suit.

This was an extremely exciting reveal as Tom Holland is set to be receiving another Spider-Man trilogy within the MCU - as confirmed via Fandango - which may show the symbiote finding him at some point within those movies.

It is unclear whether Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be going up against Tom Hardy’s Venom at some point, considering Eddie is now back in his respective universe, but this means at the least we will get to see Venom bonding with Spider-Man at some point!
