Marvel Introduce First Muslim Hero to The MCU With Ms. Marvel's Official Trailer

(via: Marvel Studios)

In 2013, Marvel introduced a brand-new character in Kamala Khan to their comics continuity, making her a massive superfan of current Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers. After gaining superhuman powers of her own, Kamala took on the identity of the new Ms. Marvel and used her powers for the greater good, teaming up with the likes of Spider-Man & her idol Captain Marvel to fight crime in the Marvel universe.

Cut to nine years later and Kamala is breaking through yet again, but this time on the grandest stage of them all. The latest Marvel Studios and Disney+ project “Ms. Marvel” starts streaming on June 8 and sets the stage for Kamala Khan’s big introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she stars in her very own six-episode series.

Newcomer actress Iman Vellani will star as the titular hero and she will be joined by Saagar Shaikh as her older brother Aamir, Mohan Kapur (Crime Next Door) and Zenobia Shroff (The Big Sick) as her parents Muneeba and Yusuf, Matt Lintz (The Walking Dead) as her best friend Bruno, and Aramis Knight (Into the Badlands) as the vigilante known as Red Dagger.

Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and a Funeral) serves as executive producer and head writer, and the first season of Ms. Marvel is directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Saving Face , A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness), Meera Menon (For All Mankind), and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Batgirl, Bad Boys for Live).
